I am outraged that Congress is moving forward with a massive budget resolution that slashes federal spending without being honest with the American people about where these cuts will come from. This is legislative cowardice.
Everyone knows that there are only a few major areas where cuts of this magnitude could be made: Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, programs that are critical for the least affluent members of our society. Yet, instead of having an open debate about the impact of these cuts, Congress is pushing through a vague framework while hiding the details—all to justify another massive tax giveaway to the already obscenely wealthy.
If this budget resolution is truly fiscally responsible, why won’t its supporters tell the public exactly what they are planning to cut? If Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are on the chopping block, Americans deserve to know. Instead, this is an attempt to pull the wool over our eyes, passing the cuts first and dealing with the fallout later. That is not governance—it is deception.
I urge you to reject this reckless and dishonest approach. If Congress is going to slash the budget, then it must be transparent about the consequences. Americans deserve the truth, not a blank check for tax cuts that benefit the wealthiest at the expense of everyone else.
