LET’S HOPE TRUMP’S MINISTRY OF TRUTH IS AS INEPT AS IT SEEMS

While the GOP is scurrying to escape the continuing Wrath of Epstein, we the people are able to hold more than one thought at a time. And will continue to remind you that we see. We hear. We understand. Someone in the GOP must have recently read Orwell’s 1984. Because we read that a version of the Ministry of Truth is, and has been, in the works. Trump wants his own agency of misinformation and propaganda and has invested a lot of time and energy in the project. The ultimate goal appears to be to reframe the January 6 insurrection, Trump’s role in it, and the GOP role in it, to ensure Trump’s place in history. And minions are more than ready to make it so. Like 1984 the primary function will not be to disseminate truth, but rather to falsify historical events, control news media, and spread propaganda that aligns with the Trump doctrine and to maintain the illusion of infallibility. After the WH intervened over slow progress to get the propaganda machine fired up, a deal has been struck to allow the issuance of subpoenas to compel testimony, and the production of information. It will no doubt be a master-class in totalitarianism. The House will vote on creation of the new subcommittee after it returns from its Epstein hiatus. Georgia Republican Barry Loudermilk will helm it. He proved his chops in 2024, when a House subcommittee that Loudermilk led released a 128-page report calling for the prosecution of Liz Cheney because of her role on the January 6 Committee. 1984 could also provide language for the desired outcome: “Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” That’s precisely where we are. Trump has continuously claimed, despite all the evidence to the contrary, that Democrats launched an attack on him. In preparation for this new erasure of history, he has already pardoned or commuted sentences for January 6 defendants, including those convicted of seditious conspiracy. Loudermilk told reporters that it was Trump who insisted on getting the subcommittee’s work underway and that he was disappointed that it hadn’t already begun. The president is intent on rewriting history so he can whitewash his abysmal legacy. He continues to believe that if he tells the lies for long enough, they will morph into truth, at least in the minds of the public. He believes he can sell us yet another Trump university, Trump steaks, Trump widgets. Today, during a scrum, he told reporters, “Everything is fake with the Democrats.” (Said as he hopped a plane for Scotland, on the taxpayers’ nickel, to promote his Scottish golf courses.) Spoiler: it won’t work.
