I know that we Americans are distracted by our election and COVID and civil unrest, but the world is still out there. In the absence of American pressure and vigilance, Turkey is encouraging violence on Armenians by Azerbaijan and also acting in contravention of a variety of laws and norms in Cyprus and Greek waters, Libya and Syria.
I urge you to take some action against Turkey to stop their violent and crusading ways. Many Armenians around the world are angry, depressed, sad, and frustrated at the lack of action by world leaders. It seems as though most view the current conflict in Artsakh-Karabakh as just another land conflict. However, this appears to be turning into something much worse.
Between the importation of Syrian and other Islamist jihadis, use of drones, hateful rhetoric popping up in other countries (France and now Austria), it appears more likely that Erdogan is stoking a religious war aimed at the creation of some kind of PanTurkic empire. The world should not allow this kind of violent bullying to occur.
In Artsakh-Karabakh in particular, Artsakh and Armenia itself, represent a land and cultural barrier preventing this PanTurkic empire from reaching in an unchallenged way from Turkey to Kazakhstan. Coupled with the 1915 genocide of Armenians, and the continuing denial of the genocide, and Turk aggression against Armenians from France to Fresno, it is very possible that another genocide attempt is on the horizon.
