Expand the Supreme Court

I am writing to you today to express my strong support for expanding the United States Supreme Court to have more vacancies. Doing so would help ensure that our nation's highest court is able to better reflect the diversity of views and experiences that exist in our country. However, I must also bring your attention to a concerning issue regarding one of the current Supreme Court justices. Justice Clarence Thomas has shown to be corrupt by accepting bribes from GOP megadonors. These actions undermine the integrity of the Supreme Court and the trust that the American people place in our judicial system. The fact that Justice Thomas continues to sit on the bench despite these unethical actions is a grave injustice to the American people. Furthermore, I am deeply concerned by the efforts of the Republican Party to pack the court with conservative justices. It is clear that these efforts are motivated by a desire to achieve political outcomes that are not supported by the majority of the American people. This is particularly troubling when we consider that a sitting Supreme Court justice has been implicated in accepting bribes. It is worth noting that this issue is not occurring in a vacuum. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's decision to block President Obama from filling a Supreme Court vacancy in his final term was a clear example of partisan politics at work. This move denied the American people the opportunity to have a fully-functioning Supreme Court during a critical period in our nation's history. Moreover, McConnell's willingness to allow a Supreme Court nominee through when Donald Trump was president while denying one for President Obama highlights the depth of the partisan divide and underscores the need for a more independent and non-partisan judiciary. I urge you to reject these partisan efforts to pack the court with conservative justices and to support efforts to expand the court in a way that reflects the views and values of the American people. It is essential that we restore the integrity and independence of the Supreme Court, and I believe that expanding the court is a critical step in that direction.
