An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Abolish the death penalty

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Amnesty International reminds us that “the death penalty breaches human rights, in particular the right to life and the right to live free from torture or cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.” These rights were guaranteed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights drafted by the UN in 1948. We must abolish this inhuman practice for federal prisoners. There is no sound moral justification for a government to execute its prisoners, particularly as we have reams of concrete evidence of so many falsely convicted inmates.
