Immigration policy rooted in American values, not hatred

I urge you to oppose attempts to distort and undermine immigration laws and processes in service of fascist, racist or xenophobic ideologies. Our nation's immigration system must function impartially and humanely, respecting the rights and dignity of all individuals regardless of national origin. Policies guided by hatred and discrimination against ethnic or religious groups are antithetical to American values of freedom, equality and justice. Instead, we should pursue comprehensive immigration reform that enhances border security while also providing a pathway to legal status for undocumented immigrants already contributing to our communities and economy. An immigration framework founded on lawful, orderly and humane procedures is essential to upholding our national interests and democratic principles.
