*Request to Close Loophole: Require AIPAC to Register as Foreign Agent for Transparency and Accountability*
The influence of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) on U.S. policy and its financial support for politicians who back Israel has raised concerns. It is suggested that AIPAC's founder exploited a legal loophole to avoid registering as a foreign agent. This loophole should be closed to ensure transparency and integrity in our political process. AIPAC's actions are potentially blurring the line between supporting Israel and endorsing the right-wing political agenda of the current Israeli government. It is crucial to distinguish these two. Therefore, it is requested that steps be taken to require AIPAC to register as a foreign agent under the Foreign Agents Registration Act. This will help maintain the impartiality of our political system and safeguard the democratic process. There is compelling evidence suggesting that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) operates as a foreign agent, warranting its registration as such. This evidence includes AIPAC's origins as a spinoff of the American Zionist Council, previously mandated by the DOJ to register as an Israeli foreign agent. Furthermore, AIPAC's founder, Isaiah L. Kenen, was once registered as the chief information officer for the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. FBI investigations in 1984 and 2005 also indicate AIPAC's involvement in espionage-related activities. It is crucial to ensure transparency and accountability in our political process. Therefore, it is requested that AIPAC be subjected to public access and disclosure requirements, particularly concerning its lobbying activities and funding flows. This action will safeguard our political process from undue foreign influence.
