Oppose the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act

I am writing to urge you to vote NO on the so-called Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. While I fully support fairness in sports, this bill is not about protecting women and girls—it is about excluding and discriminating against transgender athletes.
Legislation that singles out and bans transgender youth from participating in sports aligns with neither fairness nor science. Major medical organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association, oppose bans on transgender participation because they harm already vulnerable youth. Transgender kids, like all kids, benefit from sports by building confidence, community, and leadership skills.
Moreover, passing this bill sets a dangerous precedent that opens the door to further discrimination—not just against transgender people, but against other marginalized and protected groups as well. When lawmakers start legislating exclusion under the guise of “fairness,” it creates a slippery slope where more individuals could face unjust barriers to participation in public life. This kind of government-sanctioned discrimination undermines the very principles of equality and inclusion that our country strives to uphold.
Rather than focusing on exclusionary policies, I urge you to prioritize real issues impacting women’s and girls’ sports: increasing funding, addressing disparities in resources and pay, and ensuring all young athletes have the opportunity to compete in a safe and supportive environment.
Please reject legislation that fuels division and discrimination. Instead, stand for policies that truly uplift all women and girls. I strongly urge you to vote NO on this bill.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
