Cosponsor H.R. 4756 The Community News and Small Business Support Act

H.R. 4756 The Community News and Small Business Support Act introduced in July of this year to the House of Representatives would provide tax incentives to support local journalism (local newspapers or any licensed broadcast radio or television station that serves a local community). As of my letter, the co-sponsorship of this bill is well balanced among the two major political parties.  Local journalism informs communities about their local and state politics and environmental issues, promotes community identity, and encourages civic engagement.  Reporters working with local journalism outlets have a vested interest in quality coverage as it is their community as well and they are providing for the people it serves (presumably including their family and friends). I would be quite eager to have an amendment to this bill, a tax credit for ‘household news subscriptions’ included; providing me as a local community consumer an incentive to subscribe to a variety of local journalism outlets. I urge you to promote, and cosponsor H.R. 4756. Thank you.
