An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Catherine Eschbach, Musk’s Lawyer: Unfit for Labor Oversight Role

34 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

I urge you to reject the appointment of Catherine Eschbach to a federal watchdog role overseeing government contractors. Eschbach previously represented Elon Musk and SpaceX in efforts to scale back contractor oversight—making her deeply unfit to regulate the very system she tried to weaken (NPR, Mar. 27, 2025). Her appointment isn’t about public service—it’s about protecting corporate interests. Federal watchdogs must be independent, not aligned with billionaires seeking to avoid accountability. Americans deserve oversight that protects workers and ensures responsible use of taxpayer funds. Placing Eschbach in this role would only further erode public trust in government. Please stand up for transparency and reject this dangerous nomination.
