Please order the archivist of the United States to certify what the president, constitutional scholars, and the American Bar Association agree is the 28th amendment.
Women can serve in combat roles in the military, but that right might be taken away from them in just a few weeks. Today a woman often has trouble getting a hysterectomy, many doctors ask for a letter from a woman's husband before they are willing to perform that surgery. Women can order their own birth control now, but that right is not guaranteed. A woman's right to own her own home and manage her own bank account are taken for granted today, but they are not enshrined in the constitution, and those rights can be taken away without the ERA.
Now that the Equal Rights Amendment has been ratified by 38 states and recognized by the president, the next step is to direct the archivist of the United States to certify that the event happened and publish the amendment. Please demand that the archivist do her job.
It's not the job of the archivist to have a legal opinion, but by not publishing the amendment the office of the archivist is saying that that their legal opinion is more important than the American Bar Association and the president's.
Demand that the archivist do her job. Demand that the 28th amendment get published. Demand the ERA.
