An open letter to the U.S. Congress

No data centers on military land!

I am deeply concerned about the Pentagon’s plans to build data centers on military land to fuel AI capabilities in warfare. Unchecked AI use has no place in life-or-death decisions or deadly weapons systems. Further, the extraordinary energy demand needed to power AI is extending the fossil fuel era and worsening the climate crisis. Additionally, 7-in-10 Americans oppose data centers being built in their communities because of the increased electricity costs, daily waste of millions of gallons of freshwater, and air, light, and noise pollution. I urge you to block the Pentagon from building new taxpayer-subsidized AI data centers.
