We're watching you, GOP

The Majority in the House spent their first weeks in power throwing the House into chaos, standing by while YOU made shady backroom deals in order to become Speaker. You handed the keys of power to MAGA extremists like Lauren Boebert and Matt Gaetz, and gave prime committee seats to serial liar George Santos and white nationalist Paul Gosar. Republicans allowed us to hit the debt ceiling for the first time in American history, with the goal of using it as a hostage to force drastic cuts to social security and Medicare, and risking catastrophic damage to our economy. And the GOP showed us their priorities right off the bat: •Passing a Rules package that gutted the Office of Congressional Ethics •Making it easier for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations to cheat on their taxes •Attacking abortion access •Threatening to hold the debt limit hostage in exchange for cuts to critical social programs like Social Security, Medicare, and veterans’ benefits This was an awful (if unsurprising) start, even by MAGA Republican standards. I expect you to put the needs of your (OUR) district first over MAGA extremism and brinkmanship. I am very angry over the changes made to the House Rules, the week-one votes, and the games being played with the debt ceiling that could lead to cuts to important programs and have negative effects on our economy. I expect you to prioritize the needs of your district, and not try to shield yourself from accountability.
