Multiple U.S citizens, including several veterans, were illegally intercepted in international waters by Israeli forces while sailing with the Global Sumid Flotilla. The Flotilla carried no weapons, and was an international effort to bring aid to Palestinians. I will remind you that Israel’s actions in Gaza constitute a genocide, according to Human Rights Watch, The U.N., Amnesty International, and more. The flotilla aimed to help victims of that genocide.
Now, the very people who are carrying out the genocide have illegally detained American citizens. This requires IMMEDIATE and intense action from Congress. As our elected officials you have the professional and moral duty to defend Americans. I urge you to immediately call on Israel to release the Flotilla and allow the aid into Gaza.
I also call on you to push for an end to Israel’s military actions and to cut all fiscal ties with them — no more US funding, which should have stopped years ago, and no more accepting money from AIPAC. We can see how much they give you and your colleagues, and no matter how much they donate, our votes cannot be bought. The world is watching. Your constituents are watching.
