An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Preserve equal birthright citizenship rights for all Americans

3 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

Native Americans have long been recognized as citizens by birthright under the 14th Amendment's guarantee of citizenship to all persons born in the United States. Any efforts to undermine or selectively exclude Native Americans from this established constitutional right are discriminatory and an affront to principles of equal protection under the law that are fundamental to American democracy. This administration's actions threaten to erode civil liberties and create a hierarchy of citizenship based on ethnicity, in violation of our nation's core values. We must forcefully reject any attempt to strip Native Americans of their birthright rights as U.S. citizens.
