An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress

No more mass shootings

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

When I checked GunViolenceArchive last night before bed, there had not been any mass shootings since May 3. This morning there were four listed for May 5 and two for May 6. This afternoon, there was another one - a large mass shooting at an outlet mall in Texas. In these past two days, there have been fifteen people killed and fifteen people injured in seven shootings in six states. This is madness. We must obtain the political will to make this stop. We must ban assault weapons and large magazines. We must implement universal background checks. We must close the Charleston loophole. And we must keep going. The majority of the people in our country want these measures to be taken. Even Fox News acknowledged this with their latest polling about gun violence. As you constituent, as a human being in mourning, I demand that you pass these measures and keep going until we have mass shootings as rarely as other advanced nations. Thank you for jumping into immediate action.
