An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Stop OPM from Accessing Employee Medical Records

6 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

OPM has demanded confidential medical records and data from federal health insurers. This is data identifying the individual. This is a violation of personal privacy. It will destroy confidentiality. Vague wording of the demand risks broad info demands of the federal employee about employees and their families—and data abuse. Some de-identified data might be legitimately useful. There is no legitimate use for OPM access to health information of employees. This data could be used against employees & others insured. Job discrimination & firings based on health data even when they do well on the job are possible. Personal data could be used for unauthorized or illegal actions against individuals. Insurers risk liability. The Association of Federal Health Organizations opposes the OPM demand. Public officials pay attention to insurers pushing to stop the destruction of privacy of their FEHB customers. Make your voice heard. Silence is a choice. Your customers are watching.
