How Did a Journalist—and a Car Wash—Get Our Yemen Strike Plans?
3 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!
I am writing to express deep concern about a recent national security breach involving the accidental transmission of classified U.S. military plans to unauthorized individuals.
On March 15, 2025, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth reportedly sent a group text containing detailed information about upcoming U.S. airstrikes in Yemen—including targeting coordinates, weapons systems, and timing.
Shockingly, this message was not only sent to journalist Jeffrey Goldberg, but also to a New York-based food critic, a former U.S. ambassador to Finland, a tech investor in Austin, and an unknown number linked to a car wash in Idaho. These individuals had no security clearance and should never have had access to such sensitive information.
This stunning lapse in operational security raises urgent questions about:
• The competence and protocols of the Department of Defense;
• How such a critical communication channel was so poorly managed;
• Whether the President or NSC were aware of the breach before or after the operation;
• And what safeguards are in place to prevent unauthorized leaks during active military operations.
The fact that these texts went out two hours before the strikes began is not only an embarrassment—it could have endangered American lives and compromised the mission.
I strongly urge your office to demand a formal Congressional investigation and public accounting of how this breach happened, what steps are being taken to prevent future occurrences, and whether any laws were violated.
The American people deserve better. We need transparency and accountability—NOW.
