A fascinating wrinkle in the so-called "pro-life" movement is how little the proponents do to support lives after the forced birth occurs.
In the United States of America, there is no paid parental leave. The costs of pre-natal care, birth, and post-partum care are astronomically high -- and again, time off to take advantage of this care nearly nonexistent. Childcare typically absorbs most of a full-time income, and studies have documented the negative effects on children who are shuttled directly from womb to daycare. None of this sounds designed to support either a new mother, an infant, or their family and support network.
For this and many other reasons, I am writing a letter a day to end the practice of forced birth by securing abortion access in law.
