You swore an oath to defend the Constitution—not to look the other way while a president uses public office for private gain. The evidence is overwhelming. President Trump accepted a $400 million luxury Boeing 747 from Qatar through the Pentagon, even as reports indicate the aircraft is expected to end up in his presidential library after he leaves office. The Constitution’s Foreign Emoluments Clause exists for a reason: foreign governments should never be able to purchase influence with gifts of extraordinary value. At the same time, the administration has awarded hundreds of millions of dollars in no-bid White House construction contracts while a federal judge has already questioned the legality of demolishing the East Wing. Taxpayers were promised they would not pay for this project. Instead, reports show they may be covering more than half the cost. The pattern doesn’t stop there. Investigations have identified at least 14 companies tied to the Trump and Lutnick families pursuing mining deals while receiving or seeking more than $8.9 billion in federal support. Financial disclosures also reveal Trump earned roughly $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency ventures in a single year while his administration advanced policies benefiting that industry. Meanwhile, investors suffered enormous losses while the Trump family collected hundreds of millions in fees. This is exactly why the Constitution contains the Emoluments Clauses and why federal ethics laws exist. Public office is a public trust—not a personal investment portfolio. Congress has the authority—and the duty—to investigate, subpoena witnesses, demand financial transparency, prohibit conflicts of interest, recover taxpayer funds obtained through corruption where appropriate, and hold any official accountable regardless of party. Americans are struggling to afford groceries, housing, healthcare, and education while the First Family appears to be cashing in on the presidency. The White House is not a family business. The presidency is not a license to enrich yourself. Do your job. Stop this corruption before it becomes the new normal. Please, protect our country from this disaster.
