Vote to pass H.R. 3755
Women’s Health Protection Act of 2021
Most Americans believe that the decision to have or not have an abortion should be left to the patient and their doctor. Abortion access allows people who are pregnant to make their own decisions about their pregnancies, their families, and their lives. Reproductive justice is a human right. International human rights law recognizes that access to abortion is intrinsically linked to the rights to life, health, and equality. Reproductive justice requires every individual to have the right to make their own decisions about having children regardless of their circumstances and without interference and discrimination. Abortion restrictions, which target a health service primarily used by women, are a tool of gender oppression. This harms the basic autonomy, dignity, and equality of women. However, access to abortion is critical to the health of every person capable of becoming pregnant. Protect cisgender women, transgender men, non-binary individuals, and others who are unjustly harmed by abortion restrictions. Restrictions on reproductive health, like the obstruction of access to abortion services, disproportionately harm people with low incomes, BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of color), immigrants, young people, people with disabilities, and those living in medically underserved areas. Abortion services are essential to health care. Abortion is safe- one of the safest medical procedures in America! Many abortion restrictions do not have any health or safety benefits for patients. Vote to pass this act and protect essential health care. Vote to pass WHPA!
