Block Galveston County's attempt to redraw precinct maps between the March primary and November general election. This is not a technicality — it is officials manipulating district lines mid-race to evade voters' judgment. The Campaign Legal Center and UCLA Voting Rights Project have already filed an emergency petition with the Texas Supreme Court, and they need your voice behind it.
What Galveston County is proposing would move voters into precincts with different candidates, strip some voters of any election at all, and create a six-year gap between elections for certain justices of the peace. Candidates who could have run under the new maps never got that chance. Votes already cast under the old maps would effectively be nullified. This violates the Equal Protection Clause, the Texas Constitution, and the Texas Election Code.
If this stands, it sets a precedent for every county in Texas. Any official polling badly before November could simply redraw their own district to escape accountability. That cannot happen here. Use every tool available to stop these maps from taking effect and protect every vote already cast in this election cycle.
