I am writing to express my profound alarm and condemnation regarding Speaker Mike Johnson's inexcusable refusal to swear in the duly elected Representative from Arizona's 7th Congressional District, Adelita Grijalva.
This is a fundamental assault on our democratic republic. The voters of Arizona made their choice, and for Speaker Johnson to unilaterally block their representative from taking her seat is an act of unprecedented constitutional defiance. This is not how a democracy functions.
The people of Arizona are being subjected to taxation without representation, a grievance that sparked the very founding of our nation.
