Oppose Casey Means' Nomination as US Surgeon General

I am writing to urge you to oppose Casey Means' nomination as US Surgeon General. With the Senate confirmation process underway and a critical deadline of December 24, 2025 approaching, I ask that you vote against this nomination to protect public health in our country. The Surgeon General serves as our nation's chief medical doctor and health educator, a position that demands rigorous medical credentials and unwavering commitment to evidence-based science. Casey Means fails to meet these basic qualifications. While she completed medical school, she never completed medical residency and holds no active medical license. She uses her incomplete medical training to lend false credibility to statements not grounded in validated evidence. Her anti-vaccine positions pose a direct threat to public health. Means has publicly questioned the childhood vaccine schedule despite its strong evidence base and endorsement by the American Academy of Pediatrics. She promotes conspiracy theories linking vaccines to autism, a claim thoroughly debunked by scientific research. At a time when measles cases are already increasing, installing a Surgeon General who undermines vaccine confidence would be catastrophic. Means also operates a company selling products intended to oppose conventional medicine, creating serious financial conflicts of interest. Although she plans to resign if confirmed, her deep ties to the wellness industry compromise her ability to provide unbiased health guidance. Her promotion of pseudoscience around raw milk, birth control, and autism could translate into harmful policies affecting millions of Americans. With RFK Jr. already confirmed as Secretary of Health and Human Services, we cannot afford another public health leader who prioritizes ideology and profit over science. The Surgeon General must provide accurate scientific information and remain free from private interests. I strongly urge you to vote against Casey Means' confirmation and support a qualified candidate who will protect public health through evidence-based leadership.
