Urge Blinken to Designate Marc Fogel as Wrongfully Detained

I am writing as an American to ask you to implore the State Department to designate Marc Fogel as wrongfully detained. You may know Marc Fogel as the “American teacher detained in Russia” but he is also a pillar of his community and beloved father, friend and teacher. In June 2022, he received the inhumane sentence of 14 years in a labor prison. This is a de facto death sentence. Now, our only hope for his return (and his life) is for him to be designated as wrongfully detained, so he can be included in diplomatic negotiations. Marc is in his 60s and has suffered from chronic back pain due to multiple spinal surgeries. He is not a criminal. He must be returned home to his family. Please remind Secretary Antony J Blinken to treat his case and life with the same urgency as he rightfully did Brittney Griner's and does Evan Gershkovich’s, designate him as wrongfully detained, and bring him home.
