Notably, the administration has demanded the names of thousands of FBI agents who investigated the Capitol riot, sued a state attorney general who secured a substantial fraud verdict against President Trump, and ordered the dismissal of a criminal case against New York Mayor Eric Adams, citing political motivations over legal merit.
These interventions have led to significant turmoil within the Justice Department, including the resignation of Manhattan’s top federal prosecutor, Danielle Sassoon, who protested the directive to drop the Adams case. Furthermore, the administration’s attempt to remove Hampton Dellinger, head of the Office of Special Counsel, raises serious concerns about the erosion of checks and balances essential to our democracy.
