Oppose the SAVE Act!

I am a constituent, and I am angry. The SAVE Act is completely incompatible with the principles and spirit of our constitution. It risks blocking eligible voters. It's unnecessary since it's already illegal for non-citizens to vote. There's absolutely no evidence to warrant more stringent identification. The SAVE Act is not election security, it is disenfranchisement. My own mother did not have a birth certificate. If she were alive today, elderly and not very mobile, this law would make it difficult or impossible for her to vote in a country she served to protect during World War II, and where she worked and paid taxes, for over half a century.  That is unacceptable! Adding new requirements to exercise a constitutional right undermines that right, and diminishes the Constitution. When this country was founded, such documents were not standard. Creating barriers for voting now does not protect democracy—it weakens it. I ask you to add your voice to those opposing the Save Act, and convince your peers to reject its un-American limitations.  I expect you to vote NO on the SAVE Act and any similar restrictions, and to clearly explain your position to constituents. Do your job, save our democratic elections!
