An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Protect trans people’s right to travel!!

8 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

I have seen too many reports and stories of trans. People being denied a passport with or without the gender marker that best aligns with them. This means that trans people, regardless of race, sex assigned at birth, or identity are not able to get their passports. I’ve even seen cases of trans People receiving their passport from the mail when they applied prior to the election and their passport is coming in damaged, destroyed, and unusable. This is vile, and it needs to be fixed. Trans People need to be better protected, especially if they are trying to go to a different country, whether for visiting, or for finding safety and refuge. The fact that they are being denied is an infringement of their rights as a human being And is putting them in danger of what the future administration holds. We need to fight for our trans siblings to make sure that they are safe and to make sure that they can get a passport with or without the gender marker of their choice so that they can flee to safety if they choose to do so
