Stop the B1/B2 Visa Revocations for Asylum Seekers

Block the Trump administration's plan to revoke B1 and B2 visas from up to 200,000 people who have applied for asylum. This is not a loophole. Seeking asylum is a legal right under U.S. and international law, and these people entered this country legally on valid visas. Punishing them for using the system correctly is indefensible. The State Department's own spokesman confirmed the plan: revoke nonimmigrant visas from people who "file for asylum to stay here permanently." But that is exactly what asylum is for. These are not fraudsters. They are people who arrived legally, followed the process, and are now being stripped of their status for doing so. Many hold B2 visas issued for tourism, family visits, or medical care — people with real ties and real lives here. This administration has already pushed ICE arrests to nearly 50,000 in a single month. It wants to impose a $103,000 fee on H-1B visas. Now it wants to punish asylum seekers for applying legally.
