An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Tax the Rich and Kill Corporate Welfare

The disparity between executive and employee earnings is alarming. For instance, Moderna's CEO earned $400 million in 2022, which is 2,435 times the median salary of the company's employees. This, along with the company's plan to quadruple the price of its COVID-19 vaccine, raises serious concerns about corporate greed. It's crucial to address this issue by raising the marginal tax rates on the wealthy, ensuring a more equitable distribution of wealth. This would also reduce the burden on taxpayers who indirectly subsidize these exorbitant salaries through tax breaks. Therefore, it is requested that legislation be considered to limit such income disparities and curb corporate welfare.
