Today I take pen in hand again to urge you to vote NO on the Republican continuing resolution (CR) currently before you.
This is an unacceptable attempt to grant President Trump and billionaire oligarch Elon Musk a blank check to dismantle vital government programs that support working families, the elderly, children, the sick, and the poor.
This legislation as written would enable the administration's unconstitutional overreach and empower their crusade against the fundamental rights and wellbeing of the American people. They are not acting in good faith. The last 60 days must be enough testimony to that.
It is, in essence, a slush fund to pave the way for massive tax giveaways to the ultra-wealthy at the expense of the most vulnerable in our society. This CR must be rejected outright.
Instead, Congress should pass a clean 30-day funding bill to allow for a responsible, bipartisan negotiation that upholds the separation of powers and prioritizes the needs of all Americans over the greed of a few billionaires.
We lose nothing by not fighting for a clean bill. We lose much more by caving just because of some bad news that everyone will have long forgotten in a couple of months. Vote NO on Cloture, No on the Republican spending bill.
