The executive branch is actively leveraging crisis-level rhetoric—declaring the border situation an "invasion"—to justify the widespread denial of due process. Reinstating policies like "Remain in Mexico," shutting down legal appointment portals, and expanding expedited removal across the interior of the country all serve one tyrannical purpose: to prevent the desperate from even seeking the asylum guaranteed by law. You, as members of Congress, possess the sovereign, constitutional authority over immigration. You are the only ones with the power to write the law, and you cannot stand by while this administration uses executive action to tear the existing laws and norms apart.
