Oppose the DOJ Lawsuit Blocking Alaska's Election Certification

Oppose the Department of Justice's lawsuit seeking to block Alaska from certifying its Senate election results. Filed less than two weeks before the November 3 vote, this suit asks a federal judge to freeze certification if Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan loses, based on speculation about voter confusion. That is not election protection. That is a pre-emptive move to nullify a result the administration doesn't like.
President Trump admitted he personally ordered this lawsuit. Attorney General Todd Blanche, just days before the filing, told reporters the DOJ had no plans to interfere with state certification. Then they filed anyway. Daniel J. Sullivan cleared Alaska's primary, won a court challenge to appear on the ballot, and received enough votes to earn a spot in the general election. The Alaska Supreme Court upheld his right to run. The DOJ's own theory, that his "sole purpose" is to help Mary Peltola, is not a legal basis to block a certified candidate or freeze an election outcome.
This is what the erosion of democracy looks like. The moment the federal government can suspend certification because one party might lose, free and fair elections stop meaning anything. Speak out against this lawsuit, and then do the work to pass legislation that permanently bars any administration from interfering with state election certification. This cannot happen again.
