congress I am sending you this email to ask you consider sponsoring a bill to criminalize state-sponsored extraordinary renditions by our government and punish those who have already committed it under any existing laws.
The United States regime recently kidnapped 238 undocumented individuals from the streets of our nation, and instead of sending them home he sent them to CECOT in El Salvador without due process.
CECOT is a fate worse than death.
The regime is downplaying their abuses by calling this location a prison.
This facility is not what the American people think when they understand the term prison. There is no due process in CECOT. It was designed with no path out for prisoners. They will never make a phone call to a loved one or for legal assistance to try to prove their innocence. They survive on a diet of hard-boiled eggs, pasta, rice, and beans eaten with their bare hands. They share a cell with possibly 100 or more people, and even though the bunks are four tiers high there are not enough in each cell.
El Salvador does not have a death sentence, so they designed something worse. An inescapable hell where people are abused constantly and kept barely alive. They are not even given the ability to end their own lives. Human Rights Watch had this to say about the facility https://www.hrw.org/news/2025/03/20/human-rights-watch-declaration-prison-conditions-el-salvador-jgg-v-trump-case
It was the United States regime which sent them there without due process. The regime entered a deal to pay El Salvador to house prisoners for us outside of the jurisdiction of our legal system. The only reason they would do this is to instill fear through their cruel acts.
We must demand everyone involved in this unnecessary cruelty be investigated and punished when appropriate. From those that organized it, to those that gave the order, to those that apprehended people and flew planes to take them to their fate. We must also create laws preventing this from happening again. Extraordinary rendition of people from the streets of America to foreign torture camps is unamerican and we cannot stand idly by as the executive branch commits atrocities.
Trump said publicly he would like to find a way to send citizens here someday. We must resolve this now or we are all next. Due process and prohibition of cruel and unusual punishments are foundations of our national beliefs and should not be controversial.
