The emergence of the H5N1 Bird Flu, Measles outbreak in Texas and New Mexico, and of course regular flu and COVID-19 viruses put a spotlight on the next budget cycle.
As its only response, the Trump Administrations has laid off important workers and proposed further cuts to the Centers for Disease Control, and National Institute of Health. The Administration is NOT taking serious measures to prepare the United States for these kinds of outbreaks, in fact, Republican members of Congress voted into office what amounts to anti-anti-science quack, Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
You must talk about this in front of the media and promote international cooperation with the CDC and protect the infectious disease units we have. You need to be the voice of reason and get the CDC and NIH back to full strength in personnel and funding.
Besides savings lives, the United States can ill-afford the economic disruption from these outbreaks as we had with Covid-19.
We are not confident that everything is being done to prepare for what’s already being reported Please work as quickly as possible to ensure that the right programs are fully funded at the CDC and NIH.
