Such reckless handling of classified information cannot be tolerated from anyone entrusted with our nation’s security. The Department of Defense is not a political prize; it is a cornerstone of our national safety. Hegseth’s actions have created chaos within the Pentagon, demoralized career military leaders, and weakened civilian control over the military—principles that both Republicans and Democrats have historically defended together (Wall Street Journal, April 2025). I urge you to convene immediate hearings, investigate the mass dismissals and security breaches, and take every necessary step to restore stability, professionalism, and public trust in the Department of Defense. Our nation’s security cannot be compromised for the sake of political loyalty or personal ambition.
