An open letter to the U.S. Congress

War Cannot Eclipse Epstein Oversight

The Department of Justice recently released the largest tranche of documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. That release raised serious questions — including reports that certain FBI interview summaries (Form 302 reports) were not included in the public files. Members of Congress have stated they could not locate specific documents during their review. If records were withheld — whether labeled duplicative or otherwise — Congress must verify that determination independently. Transparency laws cannot be selectively applied. If subpoenas are issued in connection with individuals named in the Epstein files, they must be applied consistently. Oversight loses legitimacy when it targets political opponents while shielding allies — including a sitting president. Equal justice requires equal scrutiny. At the same time, U.S. military operations involving Iran have escalated. War commands attention, but it does not relieve Congress of its constitutional oversight responsibilities. The American people deserve clarity on two fronts: 1. A full accounting of any withheld or omitted Epstein-related records. 2. A clearly articulated objective and defined exit strategy regarding military action involving Iran. If the goal is deterrence, say so. If the goal is degrading military capacity, define the measurable endpoint. If the goal is regime change, explain the plan and the consequences. History shows that military actions without clearly defined political objectives drift and expand. Congress has a constitutional duty to demand clarity before escalation becomes entrenchment. War must not eclipse transparency. Oversight must not pause because headlines shift. Please complete the Epstein file review without partisan selectivity and require a clearly defined strategic objective and exit ramp regarding Iran. The Constitution requires nothing less.
