Investigate and repeal the State Department's passport gender marker adjudication policy codified in 8 FAM 403.3. This taxpayer-funded surveillance apparatus serves no national security purpose, and every dollar spent on it is a dollar wasted.
The newly declassified guidelines reveal a sweeping system that flags ordinary Americans, including married women who changed their last names, for extra scrutiny. When triggered, passport workers are ordered to run applicants through LexisNexis, Nlets, and EVVE, pulling up home addresses, property records, vehicle registrations, Social Security data, and criminal histories. All of this to check a gender marker. What does the contents of someone's underpants have to do with national security? Nothing. It never has.
This administration promised to cut wasteful government spending. Instead, it built a bureaucratic witch hunt that scrutinizes thousands of passport applications, drags in cis Americans alongside trans ones, and demands birth records that not everyone can produce. That is not security. That is harassment on the public dime, and it needs to stop.
