The relentless push for resource extraction and development of public lands in Alaska poses grave threats to our nation's natural heritage. Construction of the Ambler mining road through pristine landscapes would irreversibly scar the environment and indigenous communities. Continued logging in the Tongass National Forest, one of the world's largest remaining intact temperate rainforests, is ecocidal and disrespects Alaska Natives' subsistence way of life. New oil and gas leasing in the Arctic Refuge and National Petroleum Reserve, areas of unparalleled wilderness and biological richness, sacrifices our children's future for short-term profits. This rampant exploitation of Alaska's federal public lands for the enrichment of extractive industries cannot be allowed to continue unchecked. We must conserve these national treasures and respect indigenous sovereignty over ancestral homelands. Rejecting further resource pillaging protects America's natural heritage for generations to come.
