Stop the $12B Education Slash to Title III, II-A, and Fulbright-Hays

As your constituent, I’m writing to express strong opposition to the House Appropriations Committee’s Fiscal Year 2026 Labor-HHS-Education spending bill, which proposes devastating cuts to essential language education programs. Slashing $12 billion from the Department of Education—especially through the complete elimination of ESEA Title III (English Language Acquisition), Title II-A (Supporting Effective Instruction), and HEA Title VI (Fulbright-Hays)—would irreparably harm multilingual learners, educators, and global academic exchange.
These programs are not expendable. They are foundational to educational equity, teacher development, and international understanding. Their elimination would disproportionately impact marginalized communities and undermine our nation’s commitment to inclusive, high-quality education.
I urge you to reject the House version of this bill and instead support the Senate Appropriations Committee’s version, which responsibly preserves these vital programs. Please stand with educators, students, and communities who rely on these resources to thrive.
Thank you for your leadership and attention to this urgent matter.
