The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) poses a significant threat to internet freedom, potentially enabling censorship and increased surveillance. Rather than enhancing safety, it may inadvertently limit access to vital resources, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the LGBTQ+ community and individuals escaping domestic violence. Numerous organizations have voiced their opposition to KOSA. Instead of supporting this bill, it is urged to consider the implementation of a Federal data privacy law, which would provide comprehensive protection against abusive tech practices. This approach would prioritize the rights and safety of all internet users, rather than granting the government excessive control over the internet.
