Healthcare for Americans, not Tax Breaks for the Wealthiest

I am writing as a concerned constituent to express my strong opposition to the proposed budget plan currently under consideration in Congress. This plan includes significant cuts to Medicaid and other essential safety net programs, while extending substantial tax breaks to the wealthiest individuals and large corporations.
The proposed $880 billion reduction in federal Medicaid spending over the next decade would have devastating consequences for over 70 million Americans who rely on this program for healthcare, including children, seniors, people with disabilities, and low-income families. These cuts would disproportionately affect communities of color, who are already facing systemic barriers to healthcare access.
Moreover, the introduction of stringent work requirements and increased cost-sharing measures would create unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles, leading to millions losing their healthcare coverage. Such policies have been shown to be ineffective and punitive, particularly when many Medicaid recipients are already working or are unable to work due to health conditions.
At the same time, the budget proposal aims to extend tax cuts totaling over $5 trillion, primarily benefiting the ultra-wealthy and large corporations. This approach exacerbates income inequality and undermines the principle of shared responsibility in supporting our nation's infrastructure and social programs.
I urge you to reject this budget proposal and advocate for a more equitable fiscal plan that:
Protects and strengthens Medicaid and other vital safety net programs.
Ensures that the wealthiest individuals and corporations pay their fair share of taxes.
Invests in the health and well-being of all Americans, rather than prioritizing tax breaks for the affluent.
Our budget should reflect our values of compassion, equity, and shared prosperity. I hope you will stand with your constituents in opposing these harmful cuts and work towards a budget that truly serves the needs of all Americans.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.
