An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Investigate Supreme Court Justices for Corruption and Conflicts of Interest

I am writing to urge you to support a comprehensive investigation into Supreme Court justices for potential corruption, conflicts of interest, and ethical violations that may have compromised their judicial independence. Recent Supreme Court decisions reveal troubling patterns that demand congressional scrutiny. In Learning Resources v. Trump, Justice Clarence Thomas wrote a 17-page dissent advancing a constitutional theory so divorced from legal precedent that Justice Neil Gorsuch, typically Thomas's ally, broke ranks to systematically dismantle his arguments. Thomas cited his own work 17 times in this single dissent, more than all other justices combined, while ignoring established constitutional text and historical facts. Gorsuch noted that Thomas's approach contradicted the Constitution's plain language in Article I, Section 1, misrepresented British constitutional history regarding Parliament's control over tariffs after 1400, and lacked support from the Framers' writings or Supreme Court precedents. This pattern of judicial reasoning untethered from law raises serious questions about what influences are shaping Supreme Court decisions. Thomas has spent decades calling for hundreds of precedents to be overturned and does not believe in stare decisis according to his colleagues. When combined with reports of undisclosed gifts, luxury travel funded by billionaires with business before the Court, and potential connections to individuals in the Epstein files, the integrity of our highest court is in jeopardy. Congress has constitutional authority to investigate the judiciary and establish binding ethics standards. I urge you to support legislation requiring Supreme Court justices to adhere to the same ethics rules as all other federal judges, mandate disclosure of all gifts and financial relationships, and establish an independent investigation into any justice connected to the Epstein files or who may have accepted compensation in exchange for favorable rulings. Our democracy cannot function when the Court operates above accountability. The American people deserve to know whether justices are serving the Constitution or private interests.
