An open letter to the U.S. Congress

IT’S JUST ANOTHER TRAP. IT’S FUN. BUT DOES IT MAKE OUR LIVES BETTER?

64 so far! Help us get to 100 signers!

Finally something to distract us from war, fiscal suicide, dwindling democracy, generalized discontent of our masses, and the summer heat. Something we can all sink our canines into in mutual titillation…SEX. The president and his young blonde assistant. What’s not to speculate about? And why is the righteous right all consumed by a snarky but ultimately benign comment from a politician about a relationship we can all see with our own eyes? It appears somebody’s got a dirty mind just looking for sin. Is it because he’s a convicted sexual predator? Is it because he said he gets to grab women by their hoo-haw whenever he feels like it? Is it because he is lewd about women in language and deed? Is it because he’s surrounded himself with one blond Barbie after another? Or is it because he has waxed poetic about the sexual charms of his own blond daughter? But the current screaming factions have been fine with all that. Right? So it’s a mystery why all the faux outrage about a scenario that could absolutely be in Trump’s wheelhouse. Please. The hysterical pointing of fingers at an on-its-face benign comment is a bit over the top. Methinks it’s got something to do with the old tried and true ‘distraction’ strategy. Because now we’re distracted from talking about… Trump’s stock manipulation. He sold early access to his Truth Social posts for as much as $100,000/month. And investors appear to be making a killing by anticipating Trump’s posts as they make markets go up or down. Trump himself made at least 44 stock purchases of 21 different companies within a week before he posted a complimentary Truth Social message about those same firms, their executives or their products. Trump’s involvement with cryptocurrency. Since he became president he has made billions off crypto. His sons give the appearance of being involved in weird business deals with a lot of money flowing around from who knows where. The ballroom from hell. If Trump could only focus on high gas and grocery prices caused by his tariff, and Iran, wars like he does his beautification projects, he might actually MAGA. And the ultimate kicker from the party of Fiscal Responsibility, the national debt just passed a record $40 TRILLION. Much sooner than expected. Well, he did warn us in 2024…”We’re going to grow like nobody’s ever grown before.” We assumed he meant the economy. Also in 2025, Trump said he would balance the federal budget. But thanks largely to his tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations, the deficit is growing. Also in 2025, Trump promised that his new tariffs would enable him both to cut taxes and to pay down the deficit. But in fact, the national debt relative to GDP is about to break the record set during WWII. Remind us how many times Trump has declared bankruptcy? So yeah, by all means, let’s listen to more GOP revving up of a prurient story they wrote and now seem to be enthralled by…the relationship between an 80-year-old president and his 35-year-old aide. Because by doing so, they reaffirm to the president, not unlike like Ms. Harp, that “you are all that matters to me.” Oh good grief.
