We Demand Answers: What Is ICE Doing to Detainees?

I am writing as an outraged and deeply concerned American citizen demanding that Congress immediately investigate what ICE is doing to people in its custody. The United Nations has raised alarms about the U.S. “disappearing” people to war-torn countries, yet Congress has offered no meaningful accountability or transparency. This is unconscionable.
Dozens of ICE detainees have died while in custody. Even more have reportedly vanished altogether, with no public record of where they were sent or if they are even alive. This is not just a moral failure — it is a potential crime against humanity.
We, the American people, demand to know:
• Where are these detainees?
• What is happening inside ICE detention centers?
• Why is our government deporting people to war zones without oversight or due process?
Congress cannot stand by while an agency under its jurisdiction operates in the shadows. We need public hearings, subpoenas, and a full, independent investigation into ICE’s actions, including the deaths and disappearances of detainees. We also need a full accounting of every single person ICE has deported to a conflict zone and the legal justifications for those deportations.
This is happening in our name, with our tax dollars. The victims — many of whom sought safety here — deserve to be treated with dignity and humanity. The public deserves the truth.
No more secrecy. No more excuses. Congress must act now to shine a light on ICE’s operations and bring justice and accountability to this agency.
