Support legislation to expand the Supreme Court to 13 justices. Rep. Clyburn is right, and Congress needs to act. The conservative majority has spent years dismantling a century of precedent — overturning Roe, gutting the Voting Rights Act in Louisiana v. Callais, and inventing presidential immunity from whole cloth to shield Donald Trump from criminal accountability. This court doesn't call balls and strikes. It rewrites the rules for one team.
Public trust has collapsed for good reason. Only 33 percent of Americans approved of the court's performance as of last July, per Gallup — including nearly 40 percent of Republicans. The conservative majority has torched its credibility on the left and is now frustrating its own allies on the right. Thirteen seats to match the 13 federal circuit courts is a reasonable, structural fix, not a radical one. Congress has the power to do this. Use it.
