I am writing with urgency. What we are witnessing today is not simply partisanship or ideology. It is the rapid consolidation of authoritarian power — across the presidency, Congress, and the courts. And too often, the response from our leaders has been slow, polite, and overly focused on fundraising. That is not enough.
This moment requires bold, coordinated action. Democracy cannot survive on speeches and slogans alone. We need visible strategy, courage, and resilience. I ask you to consider the following priorities:
1. Investigate and preserve evidence.
Support independent, civilian-powered coalitions of veterans, journalists, watchdogs, and whistleblowers to document corruption and abuse in real time. If Congress cannot hold hearings, let the public do so. Future accountability depends on today’s recordkeeping.
2. Invite international oversight.
Show integrity by engaging with the International Criminal Court and inviting international observers. Force those in power to explain why they fear transparency. Authoritarianism thrives in secrecy; global scrutiny can disrupt it.
3. Strengthen local resistance.
Direct resources to state and community-level protections: legal defense funds, sanctuary networks, rapid-response teams, and digital security training. If federal power is compromised, local resilience must hold the line.
4. Equip the public.
Americans need tools, not just rhetoric. Distribute multilingual “Know Your Rights” kits, legal guides, and digital safety instructions. Help people defend themselves against unlawful detentions, censorship, and intimidation.
5. Amplify truth beyond U.S. media.
Don’t rely solely on cable news. Share evidence with international outlets and secure digital platforms where censorship has not yet reached. Make authoritarian abuses impossible to hide.
6. Protect whistleblowers and defectors.
Build encrypted, anonymous systems for insiders who want to tell the truth. Encourage defections — every person who breaks ranks weakens authoritarian machinery.
7. Prepare for recovery.
Learn from countries that overcame dictatorship. They dismantled not only leaders but also their enablers and infrastructure. Begin planning now for laws, reforms, and accountability measures that will rebuild democratic safeguards when this crisis ends.
The bottom line: this is not a normal presidency that can simply “time out” in four years. Rights, institutions, and freedoms are being eroded in real time. Millions of Americans are calling for action. We are not asking for more speeches or fundraising appeals. We are asking for courage, creativity, and the willingness to fight for the survival of democracy itself.
History will not remember timidity. It will remember leaders who rose to the challenge and defended freedom when it was most endangered. I urge you to act boldly — now.
