An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Support Immigrant Rights - H.R. 1061

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

As a United Methodist, I am called to uphold the dignity and worth of every person, recognizing that all are created in the image of God. The United Methodist Social Principles affirm in the Rights of Immigrants, “the dignity, worth and rights of migrants, immigrants and refugees, including displaced and stateless people”. Right now, immigrant families in our communities are living in fear of being detained in places that should offer safety—churches, schools, hospitals, and courthouses. H.R. 1061, Protecting Sensitive Locations Act, would ensure that these sacred and essential spaces remain free from immigration enforcement, allowing all people to access education, healthcare, and worship without fear. We must raise our voices to support this critical legislation. Therefore, I urge you to support this legislation as a vehicle for supporting vulnerable communities and protecting the fabric of our democracy. No one should fear attending school, worship service, or getting the care they need when sick. Support this bill to ensure that doesn’t happen in our beloved country. login As a United Methodist, I am called to uphold the dignity and worth of every person, recognizing that all are created in the image of God.
