Good morning. I am extremely concerned about the petition to remove COVID restrictions. I support the Governor in doing everything he can to reduce COVID transmission and deaths.
As a frontline physician and first time mother to the most amazing child, I watched the COVID numbers go up as compliance with masking and social distancing went down. We felt helpless and despondent in the hospital as there is still no life saving treatment guaranteed. It is extremely difficult to watch people die from a disease we don't understand and then worry about bringing that disease home to the people we love the most.
I implore you to provide a meaningful alternative to these restrictions if reversed. We have seen that, unfortunately, asking nicely and depending on people to do the right thing out of compassion does not universally work. As flu season is upon us, I worry that the next 12 weeks will be extremely dark and disastrous if we don't go in as prepared and protected as possible.
Please provide the detailed and meaningful alternative you propose in lieu of the restrictions should your petition to revoke them be granted. I look forward to your thoughtful reply.
