An open letter to the U.S. Congress

SAVE NOAA!

90 so far! Help us get to 100 signers!

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) plays a vital role in protecting lives and property through weather forecasting, climate monitoring, and coastal management. Proposed cuts to NOAA's budget would severely undermine its ability to carry out these critical functions. Without adequate funding, NOAA's ability to provide accurate and timely weather warnings would be compromised, putting communities at greater risk from severe storms, hurricanes, and other extreme weather events. These cuts would also hamper NOAA's efforts to monitor and understand climate change, limiting our ability to mitigate its impacts. Furthermore, reduced funding for coastal programs would leave vulnerable areas less prepared for rising sea levels and coastal erosion. A strong and well-funded NOAA is essential for public safety, environmental stewardship, and economic resilience. I urge you to prioritize NOAA's funding and ensure it has the resources necessary to fulfill its important mission.
